Responsible intellectual property strategy for sustainability transition - An exploratory study

In this paper, we propose a responsible intellectual property (IP) strategy (R-IPS) framework based on five exploratory case studies of sustainable companies in energy, nutrition, consumer electronics, manufacturing and water treatment sectors. These responsibly use IP assets to create positive social environmental impact (or reduce negative impact), unlock new opportunities for financial (economic) gains. The extent which firms today rights such as patents trademarks, more broadly (including informal data trade secrets, contracts) strategic tool facilitate sustainability remains be understood better. More specifically, need understanding how could, or even should manage their these changing times during transitions towards development are so thoroughly urgently needed. proposed defined using dimensions namey deliberation/intention, alignment, flexibility timing, inclusiveness, co-creation can support managerial decision-making formulating re-designing strategies increase organization's impact, maximising contributions (e.g. accelerating transitions) building economies.
